Description
This car is one of a pair that were built by Land Rover Special Vehicles to support the company’s PR activities in countries such as Iceland, Morocco and Finland.
To equip it for use in extremely harsh conditions, the vehicle has a number of special adaptions. As well as the 38” wide tyres, extended wheel arches and heavy-duty roofrack, the car has been fitted with a special ‘underdrive’ unit, meaning that ultra-low range gearing can be selected to suit steep inclines in snow or sand.
‘Bigfoot’ was fitted with an electric winch, auxiliary heater, satellite telephone, internal roll cage and pneumatic locking differentials, all of which prepared the Land Rover for extreme conditions.
