Being 2001, this avoids all the problems that the previous generations had; hence why this is still up and running. I have owned this close to a year and have done 8000miles so this has not been sitting around, waiting for a problem to occur.
- 2001 Jaguar XJ8 Executive, rare Black (only one on the internet), Custom Exhaust system at a cost of £600.
- Most common problems fixed! All this car requires is a yearly service and fuel!
- Had the secondary timing chain tensioner metal upgrade by Jaguar at 100k. (if you are familiar with your Jags, you will know that this is one of the biggest jobs (£2k-3k) that need doing with these cars. Thankfully, this was completed and an invoice was provided.)
- £1000s worth of invoices
- RECENT MOT - no advisories.
- Gearbox serviced by the previous owner
- The water pump and fan belt has been done
- The driver's seat and headlining has been reupholstered
- Had the header tank replaced. (old one included)
- Private reg included (valued at £800)
- Minimal rust; the previous owner had it garaged for over 10 years however there is a small patch on the driver's wheel arch. (quoted £200 to fix)
- Bodywork is above average for its age, with the odd marks here and there.
Mods completed by myself:
1) Exhaust has had the rear box delete(replaced with a straight pipe) and an X Pipe fitted in the centre. This mod was completed by MIJ Performance and as standard is covered by a lifetime anti-corrosion guarantee/ warranty in addition to a 24-month manufacturing fault guarantee/ warranty. It really brings out the proper V8 sound without sounding obnoxious.
2) Jaguar hood ornament fitted
3) Replaced fallen boot button badge
4) Front speakers upgraded to Kicker DSC6504.
5) XJR mesh grille upgraded (old black one included)
6) Cupholder armrest swap (old one included)
7) Auxiliary water pump replaced (which means heating works - still within 12 months warranty.)
The car is absolutely solid for its age - I have done my best to fix most cosmetic jobs on the car. I would not call this a project car as there is little left to do. As with all Jags of this era, it is not without its faults. The driver side wing does have rust but it has not bothered me. However, for the sake of the next owner, I enquired with a bodyshop and they quoted £200 to fix this. L
I am gutted to sell this car, especially as it's in a rare, desired black colour and was meant to be my long term car however I cannot SORN it so off to the next owner it goes.
I spent a long while researching for the right XJ8 and this one ticked all the boxes - and the gamble has paid off. There's not a single mechanical problem with the car so this is genuinely a worry-free purchase. This car is coming from an enthusiast so it has been maintained. The mileage will go up as I daily this.
The car comes with the regular extras (spare wheel, wheel jack, under-the-bonnet toolkit)
The car is HPI clear and is under my name. Upon request, I can send out an HPI report that I carried out when I purchased this car last year.
