Description
Jaguar XJ40 XJ6 Gold 3. 2. In Sapphire blue metallic with 16" Kiwi Alloy Wheels. Please note the registration shown has been removed and the current one is L315UBR
Rare run out model of the XJ40 with many new upgrades to be seen on the X300 which superseded it. Very few of these remain on the road and this is a very original and well maintained example. Very tidy bodywork and interior, would make a show car with very little effort. I haven’t, because I use the car regularly. The car is always garaged and very rarely used in the rain.
Originally registered 24th March 1994 by Dutton Forshaw Jaguar in Newcastle as L7 RAM to Ramage transport
Sold to its second owner Mr Leslie Gookey in April 1997, by the same dealer and registered as L315UBR.
Full Factory Specification includes:
Alpine AJ9200R Radio
Brake Dust Shields
Diamond Turned Wheels Kiwi 7 x 16
Space Saver Spare wheel
Sunroof
Double Coachlines
Driver and passenger front airbags
Bond Grain leather seats in Saville grey with matching carpets and piping
The Jaguar stayed with Mr Gookey in Surrey for many years and passed to Mr Mark Bellamy in 2016 until I acquired it in October 2017. There is a folder of service history and MOT certificates covering a lot of services and work including a slight recommissioning in 2015. A new sunroof panel was fitted at some point.
I purchased the Jaguar from Arun Ltd in October 2017 at 48000 miles.
Since then the car has been used sparingly and is now at just under 63000 miles.
For a UK XJ40 there is little to no rust at all and the car has never been welded, except for a small patch on the passenger floorpan which showed up on last years MOT. Every garage that has seen the car has commented on its great condition. In my ownership it has had the following work carried out:
2018 - Full Waxoyl underseal - Crossroads S. Station
2018 - Service and Inspection, new power steering pump 53783 miles - Crossroads S. Station
2019 - New rear shock absorbers, A frame bushes and fuel filter - 55364 miles - David Marks Garages

So to summarise - Good Points
Excellent service history
Rust free condition
Original UK registered car
Bulkhead has NO rust
Clifford Alarm with two fobs plus two keys
All owners manuals and service book plus large history file
Bad Points
Sunroof motor faulty needs replacement but hard to find due to the late model.
Radio buttons have stopped working so the radio is stuck awaiting a code, but you can’t enter it. Display works with no missing pixels.
Small puff of blue smoke only on startup - needs valve stem oil seals
Test drives and inspections welcome, with proper insurance. Genuine sale.
