Rally Preparation Services have something different to our for sale, this Ford B-Max “Endurance” Rally Car.
The B-Max was introduced by Ford in 2012 as a small people carrier, the first of a kind with an unusual arrangement of its sliding rear doors and no central “B” pillar allowing huge access in and out of the car for rear passengers, but at the same time having Boron Steel impact bars in the doors for increased safety of the occupants. The EcoBoost engine produces an outstanding 100BHP from its little three-cylinder turbo-charged unit awarded “engine of the year “in 2012.
This Ford B-Max was prepared by us in the Rally preparation Services Ltd workshop ahead of the 2014 Mongol Rally.
The Mongol rally was a Charity driven event where teams needed to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship for chosen charities as part of the entry process. The event itself had no given route to take or any accommodation or assistance provided along the way, the teams were expected to get themselves to the finish line…
For the 2014 version of the rally a team of three friends tackled the event in this car going by the team name of “The Extraordinary Kriegspielers” and were raising money for their charity supporting MASScot. The trio were flagged away from the start in London’s Battersea Park in the little 1, 000cc turbocharged car on the19th August of 2014. The route the Kriegspielers chose took them all the way through Europe, Turkey, Uzbekistan Russia, and the final leg through the rigors of the Mongolian desert itself before reaching their end point in the capital of Mongolia a month later. The trio raised a huge amount of money for their chosen charity along the way.
Works by us ahead were mainly focused on reliability over anything else with bespoke uprated suspension, underbody protection, stronger wheels and tyres, spotlights and navigational aids.
Reportedly the diminutive car didn’t even collect a solitary puncture over the 14, 000 KM, only losing a single mudflap on the entire trip…. full testament to the preparation work.
The car is currently with Rally Preparation Services sister Company, the SASCo storage facility and available for inspection. All viewings and test drives welcomed through direct contact with Rally Preparation Services.
