Description

For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 3 Ragtop in Drab Olive Camouflage (1977).

Petrol 2286cc. MOT & Tax Exempt. 6 Seater with Middle Cubby Box. Parabolic Springs. AVM Free Wheeling Hubs. Bridging Plates. 750 Tyres. Canvas with Side Windows. Bonnet Mounted Spare. Rear Step. Premium Front Seats.

We are pleased to present for sale this 1977 Land Rover® Series 3, finished in the Drab Olive Camouflage colour scheme with green wheels.

Externally, there are many features a prospective owner would want to see – the larger 750 tyres for better gearing and stance, canvas with side windows, bonnet mounted spare, front bridging plate, rear step to allow the easy loading of rear passengers. The bodywork and paintwork are as one would expect for a vehicle of this age and of military type – they do the job and the aesthetic is achieved well – making this vehicle ideal for someone who is looking to use it without worrying about the odd scratch!

On the inside, there are two outer premium front seats with additional comfort & bolstering, along with a middle cubby box which locks and includes a key- handy for storing items securely out of sight or for the drive-thru with 3 cupholders… deluxe matting is fitted to the footwells. The rear houses a pair of rear bench seats to bring seating for six occupants including the driver – the canvas with side windows gives both better visibility to the driver and the rear passengers and means an airier experience for those in the back, too.

Out on the road, this Series 3 delivers a pleasing period drive, further enhanced by several upgrades – the larger tyres give increased gearing over standard to reduce RPM’s in the cruise, the free wheeling hubs reduce prop shaft and axle wear whilst increasing fuel economy and the parabolic springs give a much improved ride, which is welcome for town work, speed bumps etc. The military looks and styling means it gets a lot of positive attention when driving out and about on the roads – especially from those of the generation of National Service – many of whom learned to drive in them! The petrol engine drives well & it stops well too.

In summary, if you are looking for a cost effective way to get into Series Land Rover® ownership whilst also buying from a dealership with a good reputation, along with a vehicle which is fully backed by our in-house warranty, then this could be for you. With the added bonus’ of classic insurance, MOT & Tax Exemption & the potential for an asset which will appreciate in value – then this is a very attractive option to consider. We are not often able to get our vehicles to this price point, due to a large amount of factors – so this presents a good opportunity for someone to ‘grab a bargain’ whilst still having the piece of mind that this is a good vehicle, from a reliable source – often not something afforded to the end consumer at this price level!
