History
The Jaguar E-type is considered the icon of automotive design and is the only production car in the world on display at the museum of modern art in New York.
The E-type was produced from 1961 to September 1974 in Four Series (S1, S1½, S2, S3) and three Engines (3. 8l and 4. 2l 6-cylinder and 5. 3l V12). The last series with the breathtaking and silky smooth V12 engine was produced as coupé and cabrio a total of 15287 times. With this V12 engine, whose predecessor dates back to 1935, Jaguar presented the first large-series 12-cylinder with light alloy block and heron combustion chambers. According to the vehicle registration document, this series 3 coupé was first registered in Germany on 1 July 1971 and, following a full restoration, was transferred to Switzerland in 2007, where it has been lovingly and carefully cared for by an enthusiast of this classic Car.
Bodywork and paintwork
The immaculate bodywork shows neither any irregularities nor any paint damage. The Entire Appearance Is presented in almost new condition. This also includes all seals, window guides and chrome parts, which have all been restored or renewed.
Interior
The interior was completely refurbished in 2007, using only original materials and upholstery. The leather Is supple and has been treated to a high standard. All panels are in perfect condition. Only one cover under the steering column needs to be replaced.
The folding rear bench Seat increases the boot Volume considerably, so that there is enough Room for two People's Golf equipment.
Engine and mechanics
The starting and running characteristics of the silky smooth V12 engine are exemplary for long and relaxed travelling. And the automatic transmission adds to the relaxation, even If the manual Gearbox is the preferred option among collectors. With the Jaguar E, you get the most affordable version of a classic V12 with an unrivalled Sound.
Chassis
The Jaguar E-type is known for its very good roadholding, although the heavy V12 engine tends to be more of a cruiser than a racer. The Large disc brakes on all four wheels decelerate the 268 Hp in such a way that you can Feel Safe Even at High Speeds. The Suspension, The Shock Absorbers and the brakes have also been completely overhauled and show very good values on the test bench.
Driving experience
Starting the engine gives you confidence, because the velvety smooth engine is neither loud not boring. The noise during acceleration is similar to that of a throttled Jet engine. The ever-present torque is breathtaking and you can hardly feel which gear you are shifting into. The E V12 allows you to move forward quickly as well as cruise with pleasure - even over long distances.
Recommendation
The V12 coupé is technically and optically in a very healthy and beautiful condition and a showpiece, with which you can be seen at every event and also in front of the Opera. The care given to this example makes this veteran-approved V12 coupé a faithful companion, which we were able to prove with a trip to Lugano in April.
