Ford Escort Mk2 1600 Sport. RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. Nova declaration has been done and we will complete all the UK registration paperwork in the new owners name. This one is a fairly solid original car which doesnt seem to have fallen into the wrong hands yet.... Mileahe is showing as 128000 kms which is 70 odd thousand miles
Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with extra strengthening similar to our RS models. Good original inner wings, strut tops, sills, rear arches, pillars front and rear floors. Will need a minor repair at seat mount where it has cracked the floor(not rusty). Will also need a repair in the driver side tank well. If someone pays the asking price we are happy to have these repairs done or can sell it a bit cheaper as it sits. Paintwork is presentable. Not a show winner but perfectly useable. Evidence of a repair on the bonnet as it has small dents showing underneath it but looks good on top. Also evidence of a repair on bottom of drivers door lip. Good front spoiler , quarter bumpers, spotlight brackets but no spotlights with it.
Mechanics - Good 1600 crossflow which starts and runs no problem. Standard 4 speed box and sport running gear. Bit of a flat spot when you demand the throttle. Carb will need adjusted due to the different climate. The car drives fairly well and feels tight and not like one thats been in a million bits and put back together badly. Being 40 odd years old will obviously needa good checkover before being used in anger
Interior - Standard Interior in good condition. Seats are very tidy. Dashtop has a couple of cracks but replacements are now readily available. Good original headlining. Door cards have original but have speaker holes. Really tidy old car inside.
Wheels - Standard deep dish African sport steels with 175/ 70/ 13 tyres.
