Riley 4/ 72 Farina (Auto) – Restored/ Low Owners
The Riley 4/ 72 was produced from 1961 until 1969 and represented the superior range of the Farina family with a luxury specification (the leather interior even had picnic tables) and increased power - when new the Riley cost around 20% more than the Austin A60 equivalent.
At Milestone Classics we like 1960’s saloons and have previously sold this Riley 4/ 72. She really is a lovely example that we were delighted to have back in part-exchange from a regular customer who appreciates the quality of our cars and the level of service Milestones provides.
Finished in Dove Grey with red leather interior the car was owned for a number of years by a professional chorister and then a car body-shop owner who carried out a comprehensive, no expense spared restoration in the late 1990’s. At that time all corrosion was removed from the car and very rare new old stock BMC panels sourced/ fitted as required. The engine/ auto gearbox were also removed so that the engine bay could be detailed.
Mechanically the engine and gearbox were checked along with all other components during the rebuild and today the car drives well with a willing engine and the automatic operates perfectly.
The interior is stunning with lovely leather seats and the roof-lining, carpets, dash etc. are all outstanding. The smell takes you straight back to 1964 – it is a lovely place to be.
The large history file contains lots of invoices, MOT’s, photographs, original registration documents etc. and the Farina still retains her original 4 digit/ 2 letter registration number.
This classic Riley is a remarkable car that drives as good as she looks and we expect her to find an appreciative new home very quickly
