We love these here and know, all too well, how difficult it is to find UK Supplied RHD Cars! This is a 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce, UK RHD, finished in White with Black Interior. Our car has been uprated from its original 1600cc engine to the 1750cc unit of the same era. She starts and drives well although is in need of a little recomissioning after a year or two in storage. She has been prepared for Rallies/ Fast Road Use, but could easily be converted back toa standard road car if preferred.
Launched in 1963, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT was one of the decade's prettiest and most influential coupe designs. Amongst the Alfa Romeo cognoscenti, one of the most coveted is the 105 series coupe of the mid-1960s. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Bertone, they carry the nickname ‘step nose’ which stems from the ¼ inch gap between the leading edge of the bonnet and the nose. The Italian ‘scalino’ sounds so much better!
Giugiaro designed the svelte body and Alfa Romeo then created a shortened version of the Giulia saloon platform. Under the bonnet sat an Alfa Twin Cam engine, an all-alloy unit with double overhead cams, a cross-flow head and two valves per cylinder. Equipped with all round coil-sprung suspension, disc brakes and well weighted steering, it handled with typical brio and panache. Initially powered by a 1. 6 litre DOHC four-cylinder engine, later derivatives featured 1300, 1750 and 2000cc units.
In 1965 the Sprint GT Veloce was introduced. Veloce, meaning speed in Italian, was chosen as the model suffix as the upgraded twin-cam engine produced a little more power and a lot more torque. A five-speed gearbox came as standard, sending power to the rear wheels. Disc brakes to all four wheels gave the GT Veloce superb stopping power. This is a car that offers good looks, performance and undoubted investment potential and will appeal to the discerning enthusiast.
Built to right-hand drive specification by the factory (hence its Tipo 105. 37 designation), chassis AR299671 was reportedly converted from road to historic rally use during the early 2000s. Still sporting a host of scrutineering stickers to its rollcage, the Alfa Romeo carried its late owner to victory on the 2013 Land’s End to John O’Groats Reliability and Touring Trial (better known as ‘Le Jog’). Campaigned on various Tours of Cheshire and several HERO Challenges, the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce has not been run in anger for several years and was last MOT'd in 2018, the diminutive fixed head coupe starts easily and runs sweetly but is now in need of light recommissioning before daily use, the brakes are binding a little, for instance. The car still has a roll cage fitted and cobra racing seats but there are some great period looking rally seats available that look way more period. There are invoices on file for about £3, 000 from 10 years ago but much more was spent on this car to be ultra reliable and quick for fast road use, she sits on GTA style Alloys and looks great! This RHD Giulia Sprint GT Veloce offers an awful lot of car for very little money, with restomods selling for high 6 figures this is the cheapest of these you will find and will actually be one the nicest after a little work, be very quick at this price, it could easily by £10k more expensive and it would still be cheap!
