Description

With its monocoque body, four-wheel brakes, independent front suspension and V4 overhead camshaft engine many enthusiasts view the Lancia Lambda as one of the greatest automobiles of all time. With a conventional pedal layout and H-pattern gear selection the Lambda also set the automotive template for years to come.

The Lambda was also successful in competition with privately entered cars finishing fourth and fifth behind the works OMs in the first Mille Miglia of 1927.

The Lambda was continually developed through nine series of cars with the 8th and 9th series receiving a larger 2, 570cc engine and four-speed gearbox.

Chassis number 17941 is a short-chassis 7th Series example with a factory-standard torpedo body manufactured in 1927.

Discovered in Uruguay by Nick Benwell fifteen years ago in sound original condition but dismantled. As found photographs are on file.

The car was then imported to the UK and sold to the current engineer owner in 2016, a long-time vintage car enthusiast who restored it to correct factory specification. The sympathetic restoration included the rebuild and installation of an original 8th series engine by Belcher engineering and new stub axles by New Vintage Parts.

The restoration was finished in 2021 in time for the Lancia Lambda Centenary celebrations.

Today the car presents very well indeed and is resplendent in blue with black wings and interestingly features original leather to the rear seats. The car is fully functioning, on the button and has just completed a 1, 000 mile trip from the UK to Fobello in Northern Italy to celebrate Vincenzo Lancia’s 144th birthday.
