- Original UK-supplied right-hand-drive example
Matching chassis and engine numbers
- Restored to an exceptional standard with extensive supporting documentation

Few Japanese sports cars have altered perceptions quite so dramatically as the Datsun 240Z. Launched in 1969, the model combined striking European-inspired styling, strong performance and impressive reliability at a price point that challenged established rivals from Britain and Europe. The result was an international success, transforming Datsun's reputation and laying the foundations for Nissan's Z-car dynasty that continues to this day.

Powered by a smooth and capable 2. 4-litre overhead-cam straight-six engine, the 240Z delivered genuine sports car performance, while its long bonnet, short rear deck and well-balanced handling endowed it with enduring appeal. More than fifty years after its introduction, the 240Z is widely regarded as one of the most significant Japanese classics ever produced and remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

Offered here is an especially desirable original UK-supplied right-hand-drive example, not an imported vehicle or later conversion, retaining its original matching chassis and engine numbers. Such cars are now increasingly rare, with comparatively few surviving UK-market examples remaining in original specification.

The car was restored to a high standard in 2018, with accompanying photographs, invoices and service records documenting the work undertaken. Finished in elegant Old English White following a bare-metal respray including the engine bay, the car also benefits from undersealing and Waxoyl protection. Pleasingly, much of its originality has been retained, including the characterful interior, original instrumentation, switchgear and trim panels, complemented by replacement carpets, headlining and seat covers.

Among the notable features are its original period Wolfrace Slotmag alloy wheels, professionally refurbished using a ceramic vapour-blasting process which preserved the original cast detailing and manufacturer markings. Mechanical improvements include a stainless-steel sports exhaust, upgraded ignition components, new radiator, replacement oil and temperature senders, and numerous sympathetic maintenance items carried out as required.

For enhanced usability, a discreet electric power steering system has been installed, transforming low-speed manoeuvrability while leaving all original components retained should a future owner wish to return the car to factory specification. Additional equipment includes a period-style Bluetooth radio, two sets of keys and a high-quality custom-made outdoor cover.

Now registered as a Historic Vehicle and therefore benefiting from road tax exemption, the Datsun has been carefully maintained, garaged when not in use and recently treated to an oil and spark plug service. The vendor describes the car as being very much "on the button", combining the engaging character of a 1970s sports car with the ability to comfortably keep pace with modern traffic.

Increasingly recognised as a landmark model in motoring history, and especially rare in original UK-market right-hand-drive form, this beautifully presented 240Z represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the defining sports cars of its era.
