Few British sports cars command the same admiration as the Triumph TR5, produced for just thirteen months and widely regarded as the ultimate evolution of the Michelotti-styled TR range. Finished in elegant New White over a striking red interior, this 1969 Triumph TR5 has had just four keepers from new and has covered approximately 700 miles since the completion of an extensive body-off restoration. The majority of the restoration was completed between 2018 and 2020, with the body removed from the chassis before the shell was professionally stripped and refinished. Throughout the rebuild, great care was taken to use new old stock components wherever possible, alongside professionally reconditioned original parts and quality aftermarket replacements where genuine items were no longer available. The restoration is exceptionally well documented, supported by an extensive history file of restoration records that detail the work undertaken.
Mechanically, the TR5 has been sympathetically upgraded to improve reliability and usability whilst remaining true to its original character. Improvements include a Revington fuel pump conversion complete with associated electrical components and fittings, polybushed suspension throughout, electronic ignition with Magnecor ignition leads and a Lucas Sports coil, a new alternator, a spin-on oil filter conversion and Minilite alloy wheels fitted with Goodyear tyres.
The beautifully presented cabin is trimmed in vibrant red, providing a striking contrast to the New White coachwork. Retaining the correct black Triumph TR5 steering wheel, the interior remains faithful to the car's original specification while offering the authentic driving environment that has made these fuel-injected Triumphs so highly regarded.
