Exceptionally rare, delivered new in Belgium. Complete service history. Matching numbers, coordinated colours. With heritage trust certificate. Earlier restoration in good condition, servicing to be planned for intensive use (oil change). Attractive pricing from 1961 through to final production in 1974. Its elegant and aerodynamic design recalls that of a fighter aircraft. Beneath the bonnet sits a potent engine, reinforcing this sensation. This combination is also Jaguar's hallmark, making them, quite rightly, highly sought after by classic car enthusiasts. Jaguar's futuristic design is attributed to Malcolm Sayer, an aeronautical engineer who drew inspiration from fighter aircraft. He succeeded brilliantly in transforming this inspiration into a genuine automotive icon. The end result is distinctive: a long bonnet, short rear overhang and lengthy wide wheelbase in monocoque steel that exudes class, prestige and power. Enzo Ferrari described the XK-E as "the most beautiful car ever made". Beyond the E-Type's aesthetic perfection, its performance merits mention. Initially, the British flagship was equipped with a flat floor and a 3. 8-litre straight-six engine, fed by no fewer than three SU carburettors, producing a combined 265 horsepower. In 1964, the Series 1 underwent an increase in displacement, the engine growing to 4. 2 litres. Upon the Series 3's launch in 1971, Jaguar boasted a 5. 3-litre V12 developing 272 horsepower, generating even greater interest amongst rival manufacturers. This latter variant achieved speeds up to 241 km/ h, making it one of the fastest cars on the market at the time. The car also incorporated revolutionary technology, notably four-wheel disc brakes. A more than remarkable feature that enhances safety and reliability. The gearbox was equally thoughtfully engineered: the car is equipped, to improve driveability, with a four-speed manual gearbox, featuring a classic wooden gear lever, forming a set with the equally classic mahogany steering wheel. In short, one must acknowledge that the E-Type remained a style icon across the decades. You will undoubtedly notice that this roadster is adorned with numerous accolades, and they show no signs of tarnishing. This stirs admiration amongst enthusiasts worldwide and strong demand for this motor car. Series 1: The E-Type Series 1 was launched as a GT coupé and cabriolet, with the 3. 8-litre engine from the XK150S. This occurred in March 1961, first in Europe, a month later Americans discovered it under the XK-E name. The E-Type was immediately hailed as "revolutionary", which is unquestionable for the era. The sports car was initially cheaper than its rivals. The first 500 models were sold with a flat floor, which improved the car's aerodynamics. Moreover, its design and specifications were unprecedented and revolutionary. The car came standard with three SU carburettors feeding a 3. 8-litre straight-six engine, producing 265 horsepower. In 1964, engine displacement was increased to 4. 2 litres, suspension became independent and four-wheel disc brakes were fitted. The boot badge, also added during the 1964 revision, allows visual distinction between the 3. 8-litre and 4. 2-litre, and the seats were also different and considerably more comfortable than those in the 3. 8-litre. From 1966, a 2+2 coupé version was available, with extended wheelbase and optionally an automatic gearbox. - Unique boot badge (4. 2-litre) - 3 SU carburettors - Aeronautical design - Independent suspension - Four-wheel disc brakes Technical Specifications Bodywork - Length (cm): 468 - Width (cm): 166 - Height (cm): 127 - Wheelbase (cm): 268 - Weight (kg): 1220 Mechanical - Engine: 3781 cc straight-six, front-mounted - Valves: 12 - Fuel system: 3 SU HD8 carburettors - Gearbox: manual, 4-speed - Transmission: rear-wheel drive - Left-hand steering - Maximum power: 269 bhp (198 kW) at 5500 rpm - Maximum torque: 353 Nm at 4000 rpm - Maximum speed: 236 km/ h Our long-standing expertise is at the disposal of those wishing to sell or purchase a motor car with confidence and quality advice.
