National Motorcycle Museum | Solihull, West Midlands Viewing: Tues 27th October from 1pm Auction: Wed 28th October from 10am Location: National Motorcycle Museum, Coventry Road, Bickenhill, Solihull B92 0EJ Registration No: S85 JFJ Frame No: SMTTC364DMW071667 MOT: Exempt Striking CRK Café Racer conversion based on a low-mileage 1998 Triumph Sprint Showing just 18, 184 miles with extensive service, invoice and MOT history Well-documented CRK conversion with metallic green finish and Vance & Hines silencers Current MOT valid until 6th August 2027 Offered with V5C, original handbook and service book, extensive history file and spares Based upon a particularly clean and low-mileage 1998 Triumph Sprint, this striking CRK Café Racer has been carefully constructed by the current vendor using one of the well-regarded Café Racer Kits developed specifically for Triumph’s charismatic three-cylinder platform. Importantly, the history accompanying the motorcycle demonstrates that the donor machine was a well-maintained example long before its transformation. The original service book records its purchase on 22nd August 1998, with early servicing undertaken by Triumph dealer Bridge Motorcycles at 549 miles, followed by further stamps at 4, 600, 8, 629 and approximately 11, 000 miles. Later servicing is also recorded, while an extensive collection of previous MOT certificates and invoices helps substantiate the gradual accumulation of its now approximately 18, 000 miles. The conversion itself is particularly well documented. Invoices from CRK cover the principal components used in the build, including the welded rear subframe assembly, 14. 5-litre fuel tank, seat base and Triumph-logo seat pad, rear light bracket, mudguard, hugger, chain guard and clock mounting arrangement. Daytona/ Speed Triple-style clip-on handlebars, a Speed Triple headlamp arrangement, fork gaiters, oil-cooler link pipes and an attractive Triumph radiator cover complete the purposeful café-racer appearance. Finished in a superb metallic green with a pronounced metal-flake effect, the colour was deliberately chosen to remain sympathetic to the original green colourway of the Sprint donor machine. The quality of the conversion and attention to detail are evident throughout, resulting in a machine that looks considerably more bespoke than simply a collection of aftermarket components. The accompanying invoices also demonstrate considerable expenditure on servicing and preparation over the years. Work and replacement components recorded include carburettor jets and float seals, three ignition coils and plug leads, clutch slave-cylinder seals, brake-caliper seal kits, cooling-*** switch, chain slider, chain and sprocket kit, battery, filters, gaskets and numerous smaller service items. The swinging arm has also received refurbishment work, while CNC-machined fork protectors are another indication of the attention paid to the finished machine. More recently, the motorcycle has received a service including replacement of its fluids, with the hydraulic brake and clutch fluids attended to. The vendor has covered approximately 2, 000 miles during his six years of ownership. Vance & Hines silencers provide a suitably purposeful soundtrack to Triumph’s distinctive triple-cylinder engine, and the motorcycle started readily and ran very well during our recent photography session, sounding particularly impressive. The extensive history file contains the current V5C, original owner’s handbook and service book, numerous previous MOT certificates and a substantial collection of invoices relating both to the original Sprint and its subsequent CRK transformation. A selection of spare silencers and a spare swinging arm will also accompany the motorcycle. Presented in excellent order and clearly the product of a great deal of care and enthusiasm from its current owner, this is an unusually well-documented CRK conversion whose history can be traced back to the original Triumph upon which it was based. Showing 18, 184 miles and offered with a current MOT valid until 6th August 2027, it represents an attractive opportunity to acquire a distinctive British café racer combining classic styling with the character and usability of Triumph’s acclaimed three-cylinder platform. ** Bidding will take place live at the venue, online via our H&H website, by telephone and commission - T&Cs apply** Entry by catalogue and can be purchased for £20 (admits 2...
