Description
A Talbot Lago T 26 Record Coach Superprofilé, 1951, delivered new on 19 December 1951 to the Count of Ormesson. Chassis number 3562, Coach type 331, right-hand drive, Body number 2574, Serial number 102-101. On the odometer 02, 158 km (mileage not guaranteed). Sunroof. The engine (number 26586) is a straight-six of 4, 482 cc and 170 bhp with overhead valves and hemispherical combustion chambers, fed on the Record by two carburettors. Engine running. Sump number 84757. The pre-selective gearbox is a Wilson-Talbot. It has a sealing defect. Bodywork: door alignment needs reviewing (sagging) raising concerns about deterioration of the woodwork supporting the hinges. The paintwork is not original but the black colour is. The paintwork, repainted in the past, with a patinated appearance, shows some defects. This car has drum brakes at the rear and front. The red leather interior is patinated and cracked in places. Original order form present with the body number. In the same family for 34 years. Previously the car was at the Forez Automuseum. This example, rather rare in this configuration, is in good general condition but requires recommissioning and some improvements to be made, already highlighted partly above. Note old mechanical invoices for approximately 29, 000 francs, or roughly 4, 400 euros. Standard registration document. Sold as viewed. Viewable on 16 October in Haute-Savoie near Geneva. Inspection and video on request. Talbot offered several body styles on the large Record chassis: four-door saloon, cabriolet, coach and Coach Superprofilé. This is a Talbot catalogue body built on a wooden frame clad with metal panels. According to sources, between 590 and 646 Talbot Records were produced for this model. How many remain? 50-80 could be a figure approaching the truth, and of those 50-80, how many T26 Superprofilés? Perhaps around a dozen, for what was one of the jewels of French motor manufacturing at the dawn of the 1950s. The mystery remains complete!
