MGB Roadster 2Ltr Cosworth turbo 330bhp 1968 (tax exempt)
The ultimate MGB Roadster. Professionally converted at a cost of £32, 000 between 2000 and 2002 by Falla Classics of Bournemouth, with 330bhp of Cosworth turbo power neatly fitted into this beautiful sleek looking 1968 MGB Roadster and also benefitting from a replacement British Motor Heritage body shell.
All running gear is top quality 2 wheel drive ‘Sapphire Cosworth’
Engine: 2 litre Ford RS Cosworth YB turbocharged 16valve. Rebuilt complete even with new cylinder liners and Group A head gasket. Whole car has completed 14k miles since built.
Cooling: The engine is cooled via MGB V8 dense core radiator and heavy duty Kenlowe adjustable electric fan.
There is a scoop in the front valance to feed air to the radiator, while the intercooler is mounted behind the grille.
Turbocharger: Hybrid Garrett turbocharger with larger Escort Cosworth compressor housing and impellor. (To give better initial boost)
Power: Fitted with ‘803’ green injectors, 3 bar map sensor and 330bhp ‘BSW’ chip.
Gearbox: Borg Warner T5 5 speed from ‘Sierra Cosworth’
Differential & rear suspension: Limited slip diff from ‘Sierra Cosworth’, mounted in specially constructed (and welded into the shell for ultimate rear end stability) cage which also takes the rear double wishbone coil over shock suspension, running 4 degrees of negative camber, with 210lb springs.
Brakes: Rear brakes are Sierra Cosworth discs and callipers with greenstuff pads.
Front brakes are MGB V8 callipers and drilled discs, running braided hoses all round, late MGB dual circuit master cylinder with direct acting servo.
Seats are green leather Moss Darlington up-rated reclining seats. Carpets are Wilton green with soundproofing matting.
Dash is standard crinkle finish, dials are colour coded to the body and interior, Old English White with green numerals. Steering wheel is 14” Mota-lita and CD player with foldaway face and changer in boot.
Wheels & tyres 15” knock on minilite style alloys. Tyres are Goodyear 195/ 60/ 15, good condition, 14k miles, half worn.
All chrome very good. Hood, half and full tonneau are black mohair.
This is a really fast and well setup car. It is near immaculate, beautifully converted and probably the ultimate MGB. It has been shown at the classic car show in Birmingham (on the MG Enthusiasts Club stand - in 2001, 2002 and 2007)and has featured in several magazines.
