The MG TF Roadster was first launched in 1953 with a 1250cc engine and sporty wire wheels. Better looking and more sophisticated than its predecessor, the TD, it was an instant success in Britain an overseas.
In the late 1954 the TF was upgraded with a more spirited 1500cc engine. This model marked the culmination of the much celebrated T-Series cars that endured for almost twenty years. The TF 1500 was only produced for one year and it is the most sought after version today.
This example is a genuine matching number car in British Racing Green and is an original British specification right hand drive model. Factory records supplied by the T-Register confirm a build date of 07. 03. 1955, thus qualifying it for MOT exemption.
Having spend the majority of its life in Australia this car has never been rusted. It was fully restored at considerable expense and used for club outings and classic shows. Other features include: Tan Leather Interior, Matching Cloth Top and Sidescreens, Michelin Tyres and more.
The engine was fully rebuilt with a new crankshaft in 2015 and the cylinder head was fitted with uprated valve seats for unleaded petrol. The gearbox is a 5 speed conversion, other recent work includes new brake shoes and wheel cylinders.
