Rare 1 year only truck and considered one of the nicest looking early ford trucks, rarer still is that this truck is a RHD version.
The truck has just been subjected to a total body off nut and bolt rebuild which included some period hop up items, carefully done so the truck could be put back to original specification using simple hand tools.
The chassis is totally stock un-modified and rust free. Front suspension has been lowered 2” by way of a dropped original 37 axle, dropped by nostalgia Sid. Another pair of RHD 37-40 spindles were located and dropped to work with the axle. The original axle and spindles to the truck are included in the sale so it could be put back to stock ride height in a few hours. The rear has slightly longer spring shackles, again easily reversible.
The 24 stud Engine has been acid dipped, crack tested then fitted with a 4” mercury crank offset ground to 4 1/ 8” stroke, bore has been enlarged to 3 5/ 16” this gives 284ci. H beam rods, Ross forged pistons, steel flywheel, Literio L100 cam, adjustable lifters, new stainless valves and hardened seats fitted, intakes opened up to 1. 6” and block ported. Engine fully balanced by Basset Down. The engine is topped off with new Edelbrock block letter heads, Offy regular intake and a pair of new 97’s with Grace & Co air cleaners and all new ancillaries.
Transmission is a NOS case with a mixture of excellent used and NOS internals.
Rear end has been stripped, checked and new 3. 25:1 ring and pinion fitted, the truck happily cruises at motorway speeds.
Brakes are fully rebuilt genuine 1940 Hydraulic items including proper RHD 1940 pedals.
Reds headers and a dual 2” stainless steel exhaust.
New bob drake fuel tank.
New Firestone’s all round.
Restored original 37 hub caps.
New period style wiring.
Original style interior, all gauges and glass are original to the truck, the door glass shows some signs of de-lamination to the edges but it doesn’t bother me.
Original bed floor has a heavy duty coating over it and a very heavy duty custom made woven rubber mat with 4 tie down points.
A really nice traditional truck that will more than keep up with traffic, offered for a fraction of the build cost.
Could alternatively be sold with a fully rebuilt correct 1937 21 stud engine if preferred.
