Jaguar E-type 3. 8 litre OTS, year 1961.
Old English white with red leather interior, red carpet and black mohair soft top. This is a "matching numbers" car, and a certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust is on hand to confirm this.
This magnificent Jaguar E-Type was built in July 1961 and delivered a few months later to its first owner in California, USA.
This Jaguar E-type Series 1 OTS (Open Two-Seater, also known as a "roadster" in the USA) is an early example which can be identified by the outside bonnet latches (OBL). Only 386 E-type OTS cars were built to the early specification, this car bears production number 305.
The current Dutch owner imported the car from Italy in 2017. During the period 2017-2021, the car was restored and extensively overhauled to the original factory specification.
Wherever possible, original parts were retained and restored, and worn parts were renewed. The first Jaguar E-type 3. 8-litre model is the sportiest and most desirable version. The 3. 8-litre XK engine fitted with 3 S. U. carburettors produced 265 bhp, close to the 270 bhp of the Le Mans D-type racing cars.
The E-type accelerates from 0 to 100 km/ h in 6. 9 seconds to reach a top speed of 240 km/ h - hypercar figures for the 1960s!
This rare early Jaguar E-type features wonderful original details such as the special bucket seats, aluminium-finish dashboard and orange-finish 3. 8-litre cylinder head. Later models were painted gold. The car is fitted with chromed spoked wheels shod with Vredestein 185 R 15 Sprint Classic tyres and a stainless steel exhaust instead of the original mild steel version.
Since the restoration was completed, this wonderful car has covered almost 2000 kilometres.
