Description

The Porsche 911 no longer needs to be introduced. In 1969, it had established itself as the best all-round sports car. No other marque or model matched it in terms of manoeuvrability, and above all, handling. Add to that an iconic silhouette and you’ll understand why the Porsche of the 1960s has remained a purist icon for all Stuttgart-built cars over the years.

The 911T marked a significant evolution in the 911 range. Introduced under the model name “Touring”, the 911T positioned itself as the entry-level 911 and retained the classic silhouette and rear‑engine layout that characterised the marque.

For the 1969 model year, Porsche slightly lengthened the wheelbase of all 911s to improve stability, particularly at high speeds.

The 911T was equipped with a 2. 0‑litre air‑cooled flat‑six engine delivering 110 horsepower. The engine sump was magnesium for a light weight savings.

Although less aggressive than its sisters, the 911T offered smooth, responsive driving, with a 0 to 100 km/ h time of about 9 seconds and a top speed close to 200 km/ h.

Its lightness, precise steering and excellent weight distribution made the 911T a favourite with driving purists.

This 911T was completed on 7 May 1969 and recorded as exported to the United States.

Chassis, engine and gearbox all carry matching numbers, as confirmed by Porsche.

The history of its time in the United States is unknown, but in 2011 the Porsche was imported into the Netherlands and, a year later, in 2012, registered in Germany.

The German owner had the engine rebuilt in 2016, with photographic documentation and invoices. All work is listed by the Manchester‑based… (note: please ignore this stray word) motor technician and includes: new camshafts and the installation of a hydraulic chain‑tensioner upgrade kit, new gaskets including top‑cask and cylinder base gaskets, new main crankshaft seals, a new oil hose kit, new chains, new gears, new bearings, rebuilt pistons with new rings, rebuilt carburettors and a rebuilt clutch. Additionally, the engine bay, the gearbox tunnel and the rear wheel arches were cleaned, rust prevented and treated with Mike Sanders conservation grease.

In 2022, the Porsche was sold to Denmark and has remained with the same passionate owner ever since. In 2024, it benefited from a service including an oil change, fitting of filters, fitting of new gearbox linkage bushes and the final adjustment of the gear lever.

The original green tinted Sekurit glass is still in place, as are the rare original Porsche rear safety belts. An era Blaupunkt radio, refurbished and spare, with integrated Bluetooth, was purchased from Oldtimer-Radio in Germany and is supplied with the car, but has not yet been installed.

This 1969 911T is a pleasurable car to drive, immediately usable and appreciated for its pure, analogue driving experience.
