Description
Maserati Mistral 3700 (1965) – Fully Documented Restoration – Original Engine
Delivered new in Bologna in 1965, this Mistral 3700 spent most of its life in Italy before being imported to France in 2016 by its current owner, with purchase invoice to prove it.
The owner then undertook a complete restoration: no stone was left unturned, with every component either replaced or refurbished.
All work carried out is documented in a detailed invoice file, which will be passed on to the new owner.
Mechanics
The 3, 694 cc straight-six engine (245 bhp, 22 fiscal horsepower) is the car's original powerplant.
It has been completely rebuilt by a former marque technician.
Fuelling is now via three Weber twin-choke carburettors, replacing the original Lucas fuel injection.
The ZF five-speed manual gearbox was replaced following the restoration; gear changes are crisp and trouble-free, and the clutch is in good order.
Since completion of the work, the car has covered only approximately 1, 000 km.
On the road, the engine starts without fuss, revs willingly, and the handling is secure and consistent.
Bodywork
The Argento grey finish displays a smooth and deep lustre.
No signs of corrosion, even panel gaps, gleaming chrome and unblemished light units.
The car rides on period-correct optional alloy wheels, particularly sought-after: it's estimated that only around a dozen Mistrals were equipped with them.
Interior
The black leather trim has been completely renewed.
Sound dashboard, taut headlining, carefully maintained carpets and mats, original wood-rimmed steering wheel in fine condition.
All instruments are fully functional.
