The Appeal
The current keeper of this pretty 1971 Bay bought it with the specific intention of making it perfect for wedding work. He commissioned specialists Brookside VW Air Cooled and trimmers Mad Matz to create a van that would look right for weddings and be practical too, with space and comfort for bride, groom and guests.
The cream paintwork is accented with matching steel wheels with whitewall tyres and a light beige roof with a useful built-in fabric sunroof. Inside, the full retrim included fitting a bespoke curved bench seat, complete with seatbelts, that enables everyone to chat as they travel.
A lengthy magazine article explains the van’s history and how busy it has been as wedding wheels. It is in great condition and said to be very reliable.
