Stunning Ford Capri, previously owned and professionally converted to ST170 power by Chester Sports Cars in 2015 (Used as their demonstration vehicle to showcase their engine conversions). The car comes with a large history file which details substantial spend which the car has received over the years to bring it up to an excellent standard and specification.
I bought the car around 3 years ago, having been impressed by the amazing condition of the bodywork and chassis and the quality of the engine conversion. The past 3 years have spent enjoying the car and perfecting it into the car you see in the photos today.
Engine/ Drivetrain
£5k professional engine & gearbox conversion by Chester Sports Cars, using a fully rebuilt 2003 ST170 Engine and Ford 5-speed Type 9 Gearbox. Nodiz engine management system with Motorbike carbs & RAMAIR filters. Power steering. Capri 2. 8 Injection brakes, suspension and running gear. Ashley exhaust system. In my ownership, I have replaced the front brake discs and pads and upgraded the rear shocks to GAZ adjustables. These have less than 3000 miles on then. All fluids have been changed in the past year.
Bodywork/ Exterior
The bodywork is in excellent order. In 2018, I commissioned Car Cave Scotland to carry out some minor metalwork repairs (rear wheelarches and front valance) and a full glass-out repaint on the car. The car was taken back to bare metal and had a full glass-out repaint. The work totalled almost £6k and took around 3 months to complete. Extensive photographs documenting the works are available on request. The quality of the repairs and paintwork is particularly impressive. The typical Ford rot spots such as wheelarches, scuttle, door bottoms and valances are all in excellent order. The paint finish retains a deep gloss shine and is frequently admired and commented on wherever it goes.
I also chose to fit the Ford "S" stripe kit as fitted to the 2. 0S back in the 80's. This was also professionally done by Car Cave.
The underside of the car and all inner wheelarch areas are all exceptionally clean and are painted in body colour. Regularly waxoyled (clear finish).
The car sits on JBW deep dish 4-spoke alloy wheels fitted with RS centre caps. The wheels and tyres have less than 5000 miles on them.
Interior
The interior is fitted with a full half-leather Recaro interior from a 2. 8i injection. This is all in excellent condition with no rips, tears or noticeable marks. The dashboard is crack-free and houses the 6-gauge instrument pod (rev counter/ speedo oil pressure etc). Ford period AM/ FM cassette fitted. New black headliner. Grey centre console/ armrest.
The car drives exceptionally well - fast and powerful, with a lovely induction noise through the RAMAIR filters. It really does turn heads and attract a lot of positive attention wherever it goes. Ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner. Further details and photos available on request.
