1964 UK Morris Mini Moke Project Car For Sale. A great Winter Project.
Please note: I am listing the car with a view to selling it in the coming weeks and I have been taking emails from interested persons. It needs a worthy restorer, collector or museum.
The early Mokes are quirky cars, this one more so than most. Having been purchased from the factory after being the works mule, a Bill of Sale can be found in the files and some clerks letters to accompany it from Issigonis’ office, this car was sold to Alex Moulton CBE, who kept this car until it was sold from his estate having used it as a suspension test bed for prototyping and testing some of the later additions to mini hydrogas / hydroelastic. I was fortunate enough to purchase it in 2013.
After purchase I chose to simply put it to one side for a later period for recomissiong, but I am not seeming to get round to it… so I feel it best for the car, to sell it on to the next custodians, pass on the baton as such.
Anyone who is looking for an early Mini Moke project will know why they want one, and those who know their Mini Mokes well will understand this is an early car and may know of the car and it's amazing provenance, the car will sell itself on its merits alone.
It has a very interesting and important back history going from the time it was released from the factory to Moulton Developments, through to its sale to myself in the period of 2013. Moulton having modified the suspension, his having played a big part in the developments of hydro gas, and rubber cone systems for Morris, Austin and BMC over the years… this Moke has some fun and interesting upgrades.
The car is in secure storage in the UK (Just North of London on the M11) although I myself am now based in Guernsey. With the current Covid restrictions and Christmas coming so soon I felt I could list it now with some photos, and take emails from interested persons with regards to the vehicle, holding my fingers crossed to be able to visit the Mainland in the New Year with a view to taking viewings of the car to sell to said enquirers.
Please see the photos attached, most of which were taken when I received it back in 2013. A good friend whisked it off and Mini Magazine did an article on it, other than that photo shoot I have done nothing but dry store it.... where it has stood since that day.

It will be being sold on the basis of ‘sold as seen’ and as a ‘non running restoration project car’.

I have the paperwork here and in safe keeping for the next owner to enjoy and keep safe with the vehicle, the type of provenance you dream of finding as a car buff.

The article I mentioned above in Mini Magazine was a 4 page article written about the car just after I purchased it back in 2013, the article is in the March 2014 edition, by Adam Sloman and Gerard Hughes. It was written on what they could see in the file and Alex Moultons history, It's certainly worth looking at if you have a copy to hand or can find a back issue.
