Description
Reluctant sell of my 1983 Land Rover series 3 88” with 200TDI conversion. I have owned the vehicle since 2012 converting it from a rather tired 2. 25 diesel engine to 200tdi power plus carrying out a few upgrades to make it more usable. Being registered in 1983 I believe it will be tax and mot exempt some time next year, current mot oct 2022. The vehicle was rebuilt on to a galvanised chassis in the late 90’s I still have the paperwork for this plus photographs of the Land Rover when the work was complete, below is a list of the work I have completed on the Land Rover in to 10 years I have owned it.
200tdi engine conversion, full conversion retaining the turbo with 300tdi intercooler fitted in front of the original series radiator, oil cooler, and Steve Parker down pipe with a double SS stainless large bore exhaust system.
Recently rebuilt gearbox plus new clutch with an Ashcroft transmissions high ratio transfer box rising the overall gear ratio by 31. 8% which is ideally suited to the 200tdi engine.
Parabolic springs with Monroe shock absorbers, swivels rebuilt, new steering bars and track rod ends, steering box and relay both rebuilt.
Brakes overhaled including new drums, being a later series 3 it has the twin leading shoe brake set up when combined with the vacuum pump on 200tdi engine gives good braking performance for a series vehicle.
Replacement doors and doors tops fitted with Exmoor trim canvas door pockets.
Replacement front seats from a defender with 4 inward facing seats in the rear from Exmoor trim all with seatbelts.
Headlining which I believe is a LaSalle item.
Recent rebuild of the seat box with new seat boxes from YRM metal solutions.
Spare wheel carrier and later tubeless defender wheels with michelin latitude cross tyres with around 80% tread remaining on the fronts and around 50% on the rears.
Overall, a very solid usable series Land Rover capable of keeping up with modern traffic with the tdi engine returning just under 40mpg. With the high ratio transfer box and 7. 50 r16 tyres 60mph is around 2600rpmwhich it will sit at quite happily on the motorway. The paintwork is a little shabby in places but still very presentable.
