We are delighted to offer this wonderful example of the early Jaguar 3. 4 litre Saloon. According to the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, WVC 598 was manufactured on 28th November 1958 and first registered in the UK on 8th December 1958.
Today, WVC is presented its original and fabulous colour combination of Sherwood Green coachwork with a contrasting tan leather interior. To further compliment the package, the wire wheels are colour coded to the coachwork and a set of small rim rear wheel arch spats have been added to enhance the purposeful look and being more practical if a wheel change is required (no need to remove the wheel spats). The coachwork presents very well whilst the undersides are excellent and look factory fresh, in fact, this is one of the best of its kind underneath that we have seen.
Open the doors and you are greeted with that wonderful old car leather and wood smell. The tan leather itself is in good order and with a lovely patina. The woodwork is also in good order and in are opinion, finished just right as we believe that an over glossy, modern plastic finish, does not look correct and would not have been a finish from the factory. For safety and comfort, a set of four inertia seat belts have been fitted, the rears being particularly discreet. This work was carried out by the renown experts, Quickfit Safety Belt Services in North London.
Mechanically, this low mileage example is excellent. The 3. 4 litre engine starts on the button and soon settles to a smooth idle. The disc brakes on all four corners are as new, having been replaced, and pull this Jaguar up very sharply; this certainly gives the driver confidence whilst pushing on. One thing that is surprising, is how especially fun the Jaguar on twisty roads making this example not only a good looker but with a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience too. There is also the added benefit of a stainless steel exhaust system which makes this Jaguar sound fantastic whilst not being intrusive.
WVC comes with a history file that includes its UK V5C registration document, the aforementioned Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, old MoT test certificates, invoices and an original Jaguar Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook.
A new spare wire wheel has been supplied by MWS as the spare was steel and in effect, useless. The new Blockley tyres have transformed the car. The steering is now light and the road noise significantly reduced. It is a joy to drive.
So, there it is, a fabulous looking Jaguar with bucket loads of charm, comfort and performance. We’ve been using it a lot as it is such a pleasure and with those seat belts, your friends are happy to travel with you; all very sociable. This Jaguar really must be viewed and, we believe, will surprise you with its charm, condition and performance.
