Description
1953 Riley RMF 2, 5 Litre Saloon
Same family ownership for 63 years!.
Nice genuine, example showing low mileage with a great deal of originality, and remarkable, perhaps unique history. A well known car in RM Club circles and definitely not to be confused with an average run of the mill one.
The last owner’s father purchased the Riley in 1960 for his 21st birthday, did all his courting in it and used it as his daily driver until 1974, after which, it was laid up and didn’t turn a tyre for 25 years until his son restored the car and put it back on the road in 2006, with a mileage of 51, 710 recorded on the MOT. Current indicated mileage only 53, 500.
Professionally repainted to Concours standard in Sun Bronze metallic (it’s factory delivered colour) during the lengthy restoration, but retaining the same lovely mellowed original Maroon leather upholstery.
In 2016, it was shown by the Riley RM Owner’s Club on their stand at the NEC Restoration Show and David Lofts of Lancaster Insurance Services published an account of his top moments at the show and picked out the Riley from all the other club’s Stands ….“As an immaculately restored example, , a beautifully presented piece of nostalgia, clearly been put together with great care and attention to detail” Need we say more?
Understandably, it runs as smooth as silk with that comfortable armchair feel about it, plus the extra power delivery from the optional 2, 5 Litre, twin cam engine.
