The Series II Jaguar E-Type “face lift” benefitted in a number of ways from the earlier models that made it a more usable and reliable car that the earlier versions, especially in hotter climates. These changes addressed some of the well-known shortcomings of the earlier models:
• In spite of Jaguar’s pioneering work with disc brakes, technology developed and upgraded Girling brakes significantly enhanced the stopping ability with the use of three-pot callipers in the front and two-pot callipers at the rear.
• The Cooling system was completely redesigned with a new crossflow radiator, twin cooling fans, an expansion tank replacing the header tank, a substantially larger air inlet aperture in the bonnet and the water pump capacity was increased by 25%
• The bumper heights were increased and were now wrap-around at the front and rear.
• New headlights were one of the more obvious styling changes. The open headlights were moved forward with the chrome finishers were now more substantial. Larger tail lights mounted below the raised bumper made the E-Type more visible for other road users.
• Reclining seats were now fitted to the Series II and the new interior enhanced safety to the occupants.
