MG Magnette – Fully Restored, Exceptional History, Ready to Show
Designed by the renowned Gerald Palmer—best known for his work on the Javelin—the MG Magnette marked a turning point for MG when it was introduced. Built in Abingdon, it was MG’s first monocoque-bodied saloon, dispensing with a separate chassis and featuring a sleek, streamlined design far ahead of earlier models. Power comes from the 1500cc engine producing 60bhp, delivering refined and enjoyable classic motoring.
The delightful example we are pleased to offer has been the subject of a comprehensive, no-expense-spared restoration carried out in the early 2000s, taken back to bare metal. Since completion, the car has covered just 7, 000 miles.
During restoration, the interior was fully refreshed with a new headlining, new door cappings, refurbished dashboard, and new carpets throughout. Mechanically, the car was converted to negative earth and fully dyno-rolled following restoration. The braking system has been professionally rebuilt and upgraded with front disc brakes, a fully reconditioned master cylinder, and servo assistance, with invoices for this work retained on file.
Accompanying the car is an outstanding and unusually complete history file. Remarkably, it includes every tax disc the car has ever had, from 1958 right through to the early 2000s, as well as the original Hampshire buff logbook.
This MG Magnette represents a rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully restored example with exceptional provenance. An ideal addition to any serious MG collection, the car is fully sorted, well documented, and ready
