Description
This car was completed at AC’s Thames Ditton works on April 16, 1956.
It came in Mist Green Metaline paint with green leather interior and carpet, completed by a beige hood and tonneau.
The car went to the South of Europe where it was first registered in June 1956.
Shortly after arrival the car was entered in competition by a well-known member of the local Sport Club’s motoring division. During 1956 and 1957 the car was driven in combined rallies, circuit events, hillclimbs and national events.
During 1958 another local driver started competing with this car and then another local driver took over during 1960 and 1961. In 1960 it raced in a Grand Touring car race supporting the Formula One Grand Prix and also it took part in the 1961 Monte Carlo Rally.
In 1967 the car was bought out of its retirement by a local enthousiast who had seen it racing for several years and who had been dreaming of once owning the car.
His intention was to restore the car to its former glory but as a starting entrepreneur he had to put business first. But around 1975 the restoration of the car had been completed. Once the car was ready the owner started using it as a gentleman driver in national events, rallies and hillclimbs.
In 2003 he participated in the 50th anniversary celebration of the Ac Ace, held by the AC Owners Club in Bristol. He drove the car from the South of Europe to and from the event, except for the ferry crossing, on its own axles without a single problem.
After decades of ownership the owner decided around 2020 that his car was ready for another ground-up restoration. That restoration was finished mid 2026.
After 59 years of ownership, and due to his age, the owner has now decided that it is time to part from his loyal companion.
The car is now in excellent condition and comes from a private EEC party, with EEC road-registration.
