Delivered new through Auto Becker in Düsseldorf on 29 May 1979, this Ferrari 512 BB Carburettor presents today as a highly documented and technically compelling example of Maranello’s iconic twelve-cylinder Berlinetta Boxer.
Originally finished in Rosso Chiaro 20-R-190 over Nero VM 8500 leather, the car was comprehensively restored in the early 1990s and refinished in the period-correct and factory-conforming Argento Metallizzato 106-E-1 it wears today. The original first-equipment Nero leather interior has been retained, together with the original steering wheel, preserving much of the car’s authentic period character.
A particularly important aspect of this example is the Ferrari Car Expertise carried out in May 2026 by Ferrari specialist Emiliano Torkar. The inspection confirmed the car’s matching-numbers engine and gearbox, matching numbered body components, structural integrity and the correctness of key technical elements including the shock absorbers and brake calipers.
The car’s history is extensively documented from new. During the early 1980s it was modified by Koenig Specials in Munich with period performance and styling upgrades. In the early 1990s, a subsequent owner commissioned a comprehensive return to original Ferrari visual specification, with body and cosmetic restoration entrusted to Modena Motorsport of Langenfeld and the engine, gearbox and chassis rebuilt by recognised German Ferrari specialists. Invoices on file document substantial expenditure during this period.
From 2011 until late 2024, the 512 BB remained with a long-term German owner and continued to benefit from specialist maintenance. Further work included engine servicing, dyno testing showing output in excess of 370 horsepower and more than €20, 000 in documented maintenance.
Recent specialist attention has included a complete brake-system overhaul, full Koni suspension rebuild, restoration of the original Cromodora magnesium wheels, fitment of new Michelin XWX tyres, refurbishment of the original upholstery and installation of new black wool carpeting.
The car retains its original 330 km/ h speedometer and is accompanied by extensive historical documentation, Italian registration and ASI certification.
