This glorious Triumph Stag is magnificent to look at, to listen to, and to drive. The car is finished in Pimento Red and has the best combination of Triumph 3 litre V8 and manual gearbox with overdrive.
Overall the car is in excellent condition, as can be seen from the photos. It has been meticulously maintained over the last few years and is now ready to enjoy for the summer.
The engine runs superbly and sounds glorious. It is fitted with sensible upgrades such as electronic ignition, Weber carburettor conversion, and a cooling system header tank plus electric fan, all of which makes the car more reliable, powerful and better to drive, in my humble opinion. The car sits happily in urban traffic on a hot day with no overheating issues, while on the open road it will cruise at 70 all day long.
The bodywork is in very good, solid, presentable condition, although of course this is not a concours car, and there are one or two blemishes and small rust bubbles, eg on the windscreen surround. The hood is in very good condition, but there is a tiny hole in the plastic rear screen. The car also comes with a matching hardtop, which is in very presentable condition, but could be improved with a little work. Inside, the dashboard veneer is in beautiful condition and there are new carpets. The seats are also good, but there are a couple of small (less than 1 inch) tears in the vinyl. There is a good quality Kenwood recent radio/ CD/ mp3 player fitted with an electric aerial. Underneath, the car is extremely sound with lots of rustproofing.
There is a reasonable amount of history and bills with the car, including an MOT certificate and tax disc from 1983. The car comes with 2 sets of keys, a Haynes manual and a large collection of Stag Owners’ Club magazines, as well as detachable glass and chrome rear windows, for use with the soft top down.
It has an MOT until April 2016, and road tax is free.
At £8250 ono the car represents very good value in the current market, while still offering scope to add value.
