This old Ford is more commonly referred to as a Ford Pop.... Also nick named Sit Up And Beg/ Puddle Jumper. The car you see here is the Anglia version, so much rarer and more sort after than the usually seen Popular models. The Anglia is the up market model. The differences include.... Chrome Bumpers and Trim, Bakalite Dashboard and Interior Window frames... Matching Stick On Windscreen Demister, Twin Windscreen Wipers/ Sun visors to name but a few.
The Anglia you see here has been owned by myself for the last two years or so. Registered on the 2nd September 1949 making her 68 years old, KPX 953 still retains her original registration number and according to the registration document i am presently only the 4th owner.
Tax and Mot Exempt and minimal insurance costs making this one of the cheapest Classic Cars you can run today.
Unfortunately this Classic Anglia appears to have very little history, restored to original condition around 15 or so years ago i think and clearly always very well maintained since... Apart from a pair of new tyres this car wants for nothing.
Fitted with the 933cc Sidevalve Engine and Three Speed Gearbox she's surprisingly quite peppy on the road. The brakes are excellent, pull the car up quickly and straight.
The side window wind deflectors and door mirrors are rare, quality period accessories. Indicators are also fitted, none original but a very sensible modification.
The car was fully serviced and inspected around 120 miles ago and as stated.. the tyres being the only issue. Bodywork is very good all round, all the wings are metal.. just some slight cracking in the paint at the bottom of the sill. Chrome work is excellent. The brown interior is very clean and smart, carpets are very good but obviously not the original item. all three gauges work. The engine compartment is complete and serviceable with a clean healthy engine. The Air Filter is none original.
Having recently being driven to Newark AutoJumble Show last August covering a 90 mile round trip i think i can vouch for the cars reliability, she's also a first time starter.
Any trial or inspection is most welcome, although far from being perfect this Classic Anglia is a pretty little car that's ready to show, enjoy and be proud of.
I currently have too many classics and this is why i've put the Anglia up for sale... That said i would (rather reluctantly) consider a part exchange of a cheaper car or motorcycle to help move the Anglia on.
I also see on this sight;based in Ireland is a 1956 Ford Popular for sale at £10, 000... Surely making this one look very cheap.......................
