For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Austin Gipsy in Deep Bronze Green (1967)
Diesel. MOT and TAX exempt subject to the usual submissions of paperwork to the DVLA.
Here for sale we have a very rare Austin Gipsy - rarer still in 4 cylinder RHD diesel configuration.
The interior houses a "fun" bench seat in the front. The rear is unfitted.
The exterior is all still fairly original and "there", with the smart badge and front grill, and querky front wings. It has a recent set of tyres fitted.
The diesel engine starts on the button and runs supremely well.... the glow plug set up is recent and so it fires up really well. It runs and drives although the brakes could do with a bleed, as the pedal requires pumping - for this reason we have decided to sell this an ongoing project, as it still does require some tinkering to get it all together. It has been fully road tested and drives surprisingly well. The diesel engine pulls it along very nicely, the steering is good, and after a pump or two of those brakes it does come to a halt.
It has had some electrical work and most if not all of what's required does now work..... I think the wiper motor needs still wiring in... but it even has dash lights!
This is a great opportunity to buy a fairly inexpensive, rare, ex military, 4x4. With a little fettling and improvement it could be a great addition to any collection. As this vehicle was acquired without a modern logbook, the new owner will have to apply for a replacement/ re-registration with the DVLA using a V62. This is a project vehicle with no warranty implied or given and will be supplied without an MOT.
