Hello, L'atelier des 1000 is pleased to offer for sale this beautiful Jaguar MK2 3. 8 in an elegant and stylish combination of sapphire blue metallic and grey interior. The MKII was the fastest saloon car of its time, spacious, luxurious and extremely efficient, thanks in particular to its renowned XK engine.
Whether it was a wedding coach, a historic rally car or a Gentleman Driver's car, the MK2 knew how to do it all, and the car we are offering you will be able to adapt to everyone's specifications. The car we are offering for sale is of French origin; it was delivered new by the Delcroix company on 02/ 09/ 1960 and only had 4 owners. This MKII underwent a thorough restoration 20 years ago. A detailed restoration file is available. An invoice file dating back to 2003 is also available, demonstrating the extent of the work carried out. Mechanically, the car behaves perfectly: the engine is healthy, starts easily without noise or smoke and revs up quickly.
The block was entrusted to Rénove Moteur in Alfortville for a state-of-the-art overhaul that included, among other things:
- Metalloscopy, unclogging, rectification, teniferation of the crankshaft - Resurfacing, re-boring, pastillage of the block - Resurfacing, testing, rectification of the cylinder head - Replacement of valves and guides - Fitting of lead-free valve guides - Replacement of pistons and rings - Replacement of the timing system - Replacement of the bearings The gearbox behaves marvellously, guiding and locking the gears is easy, while the overdrive works perfectly. The clutch was also replaced at the time of its restoration. Mechanical maintenance was carried out at the end of 2024 and the carburettors were overhauled at the same time. The running gear was overhauled, and the silent blocks were replaced with polyurethane versions for greater firmness. The braking system has also been refurbished.
The original sheet-metal wheels are painted in body colour, giving the car a particularly polished look, and they are fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres. The on-board instrumentation is functional, and the wiring harness has been refurbished. In addition, over the last 5 years, a great deal of peripheral work has been carried out, such as replacing the heating controls, cooling hoses, starter motor, ignition and half-shafts, to name but a few! The body was completely stripped bare before undergoing sheet metal work and receiving the Saphir Blue tint that suits it so well. The overall appearance is still very good, the paintwork has retained all its lustre and the underpinnings are also well preserved. The upholstery has been completely redone in quality leather, the carpets and the headlining have also been replaced and the woodwork has been carefully restored at the time.
