The Jaguar E-Type Convertible offered in detail
The convertible offered here was acquired for the first time by Scuderia Sportiva Colonia in 2012 and has been partially restored gradually over the years. This Type E has been repainted – the interior was fitted with new black leather – a new Moto Lita wooden steering wheel was installed – the chassis was overhauled – the engine was inspected and resealed, with upgraded “performance air filters” and a sport exhaust system fitted. The standout feature is certainly the 5-speed Cosworth gearbox, also newly installed at the time. With this box, the power delivery and overall performance of the V12 are even more impressive. The pulling power is stunning. The Cosworth gearbox has also been tested several times by Jaguar in racing and used in endurance events.
Moreover, as part of the bodywork works, the elegant "headlamp covers" from the first series of the Jaguar E-Type were installed. The second and third series of the E-Type had to forgo headlamp covers due to American safety regulations. As a result, the front lights sat somewhat exposed. We addressed this styling shortcoming with this original version. The magnificent spoke-style wheels complete the look. Replacement of the red hood in 2022. The original factory hardtop, painted in the car’s colour, is a nice extra.
The history of this Jaguar is almost completely verifiable. First delivery to New York/ USA in August 1971. This is the 27th example of the 3rd series according to the production register. In the 1980s, this E-Type passed through the hands of the M. family of Pennsylvania. Father to son, the last owner took it to England in 2009. It is from him that we acquired the vehicle. The engine is “matching”, the delivery colour was racing green, and the M. family had repainted it metallic silver in the 1980s already.
Currently, we hold the following documentation on the vehicle: the original English registration certificate, the Jaguar Heritage Certificate (production report) and an appraisal report dating from 2021, which records a top grade 1- for this beast.
It will be difficult to find on the market a 3rd-series V12 so noble and beautiful.
The last owner did not have time to get used to this exceptional Jaguar and we bought this dream car back after only 300 km covered. From early February 2023, this vehicle will be available for viewing in Cologne.
