The Jaguar E-Type Cabriolet offered in detail
The convertible offered here was acquired for the first time by Scuderia Sportiva Colonia in 2012 and has been gradually restored over the years. This E-Type has been repainted - the interior has been fitted with new black leather - a new Moto Lita wooden steering wheel has been installed - the chassis has been overhauled - the engine has been inspected and resealed, improved "performance air filters" as well as a sports exhaust system have been installed. The strong point is certainly the Cosworth five-speed gearbox, also newly installed at the time. With this box, power delivery and the overall performance of the V12 are even more impressive. The torque is astonishing. The Cosworth gearbox has also been tested many times by Jaguar in racing and used in endurance racing.
Additionally, as part of the bodywork, the elegant "headlamp covers" from the first series of the Jaguar E-Type were fitted. The second and third series of the E-Type had to forgo headlamp covers due to American safety rules. As a result, the front headlights sat somewhat exposed to the wind. We remedied this styling shortfall with this original version. The gorgeous metal-spoke wheels complete the image. Replacement of the red soft top in 2022. The original factory hardtop, painted in the car's colour, is a nice bonus.
The history of this Jaguar is almost entirely traceable. First delivery to New York, USA in August 1971. This is the 27th example of the 3rd series according to the production register. In the 1980s, this E-Type passed into the hands of the M. family from Pennsylvania. From father to son, the latter took it to England in 2009. It is from him that we acquired the vehicle. The engine is matching numbers, the delivery colour was racing green; the M. family had it repainted metallic silver in the early 80s already.
Currently, we have the following documentation on the vehicle: the original UK Registration Certificate, the Jaguar Heritage Certificate (production report) and a valuation report dating from 2021, which attests a grade 1- for this beast.
It will be difficult to find on the market a 3rd-series V12 as noble and beautiful.
The last owner did not have time to settle into this exceptional Jaguar, and we bought this dream car back after only 300 km covered. From early February 2023, this vehicle can be visited in Cologne.
