Magnificent example of Jaguar Type E 4. 2L undoubtedly in one of the most beautiful configurations that could exist: British Racing Green with beige leather interior.
The car was delivered new on 27 September 1965 by Jaguar Cars in New York. It remained in the United States for many years, then became the property of a famous Jaguar racing collector, who imported it to England and entrusted engine restoration and tuning to a specialist, Peter Lander, of Sigma Engineering in 2014 for about £10, 000:
- crankshaft grinding
- bore over of the engine block
- piston ring changes
- cylinder head resurfacing
- cylinder head machining and valve guides lead-free
- connecting rods rebuilt
- pistons and bearings changed
- installation of a new water pump
- restoration of suspension and braking system
- installation of a new exhaust with stainless steel exhaust line
- installation of a complete clutch kit
- dismantling and reassembly of the gearbox
The aim was to make some adjustments to make the car reliable and easy to use, while keeping as many original parts as possible.
The restoration being now 11 years old, its current owner, also British, has had it carefully followed by a specialist in classic vehicles.
Recent costs include:
- camshaft overhauling
- replacement flywheel and clutch kit
- replacement clutch actuator/ sensor
- replacement brake discs
- installation of electronic ignition
- installation of a high-performance starter
Last service date July 2025.
On the bodywork side, the car presents very well. It was repainted in the past, original colour being black.
The inspection and lift confirmed no corrosion on the floors, cross members, sills and longitudinal members. The chrome is in excellent condition. The wire-spoked wheels are brilliant.
Finally the upholstery has partly been redone by a professional trimmer in 2022: seats, door panels, centre console, carpets and soundproofing kit installed. The result is of high quality and the beige leather contrasts wonderfully with the exterior green.
All instrumentation is functional.
A desirable car perhaps due to its configuration but also due to the quality of restoration and preservation.
Impeccable bodywork, a high-performance mechanical, a classy interior.
A car that has been lucky to fall into the hands of real Type E enthusiasts who have maintained it meticulously.
A formal expertise has been carried out in 2023.
The tax/ deregistration certificate is valid until October 2025.
