This magnificent example has “matching numbers” (engine and original chassis) and retains its original paint colour. The exterior is finished in Opalescent Maroon (dark metallic red), paired with a beige leather interior with original bucket seats. Black soft top and the original rigid roof in body colour.
This Jaguar Type E (XK-E in the United States), from the first series (S1), was built on 17 January 1964 and shipped to New York, USA. The name of the first American owner appears on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) certificate.
The latter covered 17, 700 miles in it before storing it away in 1972. Over the following decades, the car changed hands several times, but it has always been kept in a garage. In 2012, after forty years of inactivity, a Dutch Jaguar enthusiast discovered it and acquired it from the second owner.
Found in a barn, this Jaguar Type E was shipped to the Netherlands, where it underwent a full restoration between 2012 and 2016. The body, still in very good condition, was stripped and resprayed in its original colour. The engine and gearbox were overhauled, and the rear axle was fitted with a European differential with a 3. 07 ratio.
Most of the work—overhauls, paintwork, etc.—was carried out by specialists.
A restoration logbook, documenting every step, is available. Other documents and invoices are also archived. Since the end of the restoration, the car has covered around 21, 000 kilometres (13, 000 miles) in the hands of its happy owner, who discovered it in 2012.
The car is in excellent condition and offers exceptional driving pleasure.

Only the Citroën DS19, back in October 1955, had a similarly striking launch, as if it had been flown straight in from another planet.
