For sale is my stunning example of an MG Midget. The car has recently been restored and was also de-bumpered at the same time. The car has had many many new parts, is 100% rust free and has been repainted. The engine has been rebuilt along with many other components and the odometer shows just 29, 540 miles.
I had been hunting for an MG Midget for a long time and drove all the way to Leeds for this one. I then drove it all the way back to Northampton without issue and couldn't wipe the smile off my face. The car even drew a crowd in the services on the way home!
My plan was to take the car up to Scotland for the North Coast 500 this summer, but have decided the car is simply too nice to throw hundreds of miles on and in truth a little small for me. I really should have known given the name 'Midget'!
The car is let down slightly in the fact it has very little paperwork. The gentleman who restored the car tells me he bought it in August 2018 with no paperwork and has spent the winter restoring the car to a fabulous standard. The car has a current V5 registered in my name and an MOT certificate with no advisories valid until 01. 05. 2020. However, the condition of this car says more than paperwork ever could. While the restoration is brilliant, there are a couple of runs in the paint and a small mark on the o/ s front wheel. The MG does not like sitting in traffic and can get a little warm. It much prefers open B roads as congestion wasn't a problem back in 1978! If I were to keep the car, I would consider having an electric fan fitted.
As the car is now over 40 years old, it qualifies for free tax and MOT exemption.
The MG will come complete with the tonneau cover, spare wheel, jack, wheel brace and grease gun. All are currently in the boot. I also have a Haynes Manual which can go with the car if required.
The MG is an absolute joy to drive, especially with the roof down on a good British B road. She handles beautifully once you have built a little confidence behind the huge steering wheel and is perfectly capable of keeping up with modern traffic. I expected back pain from the seats due to the nature of the car but I can say it is actually more comfortable than my MX5!
Overall, this is a fabulous little car in amazing condition and really is 100% rust free which is amazing for an MG! The car needs to be viewed to be fully appreciated, so please feel free to get in touch to come and see the car.
