Ford Escort MK1 GT. RHD Import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. Will need UK registered but we will help you with this process. This is a genuine GT car with strengthened shell and a 6 dial dash from the factory. Its an early car with the external bonnet release and the locks in the door handles. Very similar shell to a twin cam. Very solid car needing only a couple of very minor repairs underneath. Really needs pulled apart and redone to a better standard.
Body - Early export spec strenghtened shell. It has the inner wing and strut top strengtheners, the chassis skids, but no studs in boot floor or tramp bar brackets. Very solid old car underneath. Boot wells look original. Couple of minor repairs needed on front floors but generally very strong and original. Paintwork is ok its no show winner but not the worst either. Not been finished off properly on lower front panel etc. i, e a bit of lack of attention to detail. With a bit work this could be turned into a very nice car.
Mechanics - 1600 crossflow with twin 40s. Car starts and runs engine sounds decent but will need a service and tune up as a minimum. Clutch and brakes all work. We have not driven it other than round our yard due to no uk reg, snow , salt etc up here just now. 4 speed box with reverse back and to the right. Suspension all looks standard and nothing to get excited about.
Interior - Roll top recaro style front seats trimmed in leather with back seats and ddor cards to match. 6 dial 110 mph dash (not kms). Aftermarket steering wheel. Dash has been recovered.
