Description
Here we have a lovely 1966 Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint FIA prepared historic race car.
This car has been featured and driven in the Goodwood Revival and many other classic events and parades. It is eligible for the pre 1965 race events and comes with paperwork to support this.
Presented in an original Alfa colour of Blu Olandese (Navy blue) it really does look very nice. It benefited from a respray around 4 or so years ago and a restoration around 20 years ago. So the overall exterior condition presents itself rather well with only minor imperfections. After all it is meant for racing and not a show car.
Inside there is a full FIA spec 6 point roll cage, 6 point harness and Corbeau Sprint race seat. It is fully stripped out and of course has the benefit of a plumbed in fire extinguisher which hopefully isn't required! All the switches and controls are easily accessible to the driver on a floor mounted panel, and has a battery cut off system in place aswell. A small battery is fitted with dedicated charging socket for ease of charging. All lights and indicators are fully functional. There is a large fuel cell in the boot and twin facet pumps to provide enough fuel.
The engine is a straight 6 running triple weber carbs and uprated camshafts, and utilising an electronic ignition system means it produces around 200-220 BHP as recorded in the history file. A competition clutch provides the drive to this machine. It certainly pulls very well, and sounds fantastic through the side mounted single box exhaust and ram pipes of the webers. Recent engine and box rebuild with a cost of in excess of £6000.
The wheels are I believe custom made, which suit the period of the car and are shod with dunlop race series tyres. Also the car comes with a spare set of very rare Tecnomagnesio magnesium wheels with period dunlop race tyres aswell.
All in all, this is a very well put together car and can be used on the public roads. I have currently had the car out on the road and it gets a lot of attention.
