Description
1950 Ford v8 Pilot immaculately restored
the name ELLIE, to purchase a car that was not already restored but one he could witness being restored from scratch. The car was bought from Classic car weekly and as you can see from original photo it was in a bad state.
The car was fully restored, the body and chassis was in not too bad shape and after all the sanding down it was painted with 6 litres of Movac paint which was around 55 pounds a litre when other paints were 8 pounds .
A new engine was fitted to the car costing 3000 pounds and a new electronic ignition system was shipped in from America for it,
The car had a six volt system on it which was upgraded to 12 volts with a new wiring loom. All the mechanics were overhauled and braking system. All the leather was handmade and took five hides of burgundy for seats and panels. The complete restoration took approximately 18 months.
When the car was advertised in the vintage scene about 3 years ago it caught my eye and so i traded in my 1951 Ford Anglia to Julian in Pop Parts for the Pilot . When I went to view the Pilot 2 of my friends came to view the car, and I told them that it was to be fully looked over by the 3 of us , but when I seen it parked up on the road outside Rosslare I said I was buying it without even getting out of car. Considering the car was restored in 2002 it needed a bit of TLC. Now the Pilot is part of the Brennan family.
