Here we have our truely stunning Mk1 Escort mexico presented in "monza blue" and built with fast road and touring in mind! This car may not be for the purist but certainly for someone looking for a very nicely sorted example!
This Mexico was extensively restored to a wonderful standard 11 years ago by the former owner. We have various detailed photos showing the restoration which was carried out over a 2 year period where at the same time many upgrades were also added. It does retain its correct type 49 shell and is still body coloured on the underside! it has covered just 2500 mioes since its build.
Upgrades included 2. 1 Pinto power, lightened & balanced with a ported & poished "big valve" cylinder head and 45DCOE weber carbs mated to a 5 speed type 9 gearbox transfering the power to the rear wheels using a single piece prop and then through a limited slip differential.
The suspension was completely rebuilt using polybushes throughout and bilstien dampers/ struts. the car is also fitted with the correct tramp bars on the rear too.
Other upgrades include a Facet fuel pump with a filter king also fitted, 4 point harnesses, electric cooling fan, goodridge brake hoses, stainless steel custom made JAC exhaust system, alluminium radiator, strut brace, aluminium fuel tank, X4 working Cibie lights etc!
