The legendary Jaguar XK120C, commonly known as the ?C-Type,? holds an esteemed place in the annals of motorsport history. It is hailed as one of the most coveted and iconic racing cars of all time, forever intertwined with the legendary names of Stirling Moss and Peter Whitehead. Emerging in the early-1950s and built for endurance racing, the C-Type boasted a lightweight, tubular space-frame chassis and a potent inline-six engine. Its aerodynamic design, courtesy of Malcolm Sayer, offered remarkable speed. The C-Type?s most celebrated triumph was at the 1953 Le Mans 24 Hours, where it secured a stunning victory. Its innovative disc brakes, a rarity at the time, further showcased its advanced engineering. The C-Type?s success laid the foundation for Jaguar?s dominance in endurance racing and earned it a hallowed place in automotive history, combining speed, style, and ground-breaking technology.
Coventry Classics are a well-regarded C-Type and D-Type recreator located just outside of Dunedin, specialising aluminium coach building and Jaguar restorative work. This remarkable recreation features a sleek, two-door, all-alloy body, powered by a 3. 8-litre Jaguar engine with a straight port head that has been meticulously blueprinted and fully balanced. Its impressive performance is further enhanced by triple 45 DCOE Weber carburettors, XJ6 callipers and a four-speed all-synchromesh overdrive gearbox. Dressed in a classic British Racing Green finish, it exudes timeless elegance, complemented by leather upholstery. Notably, it incorporates genuine Jaguar C-type torsion bar suspension and a spaceframe chassis, offering exceptional handling. The presence of four-wheel Jaguar XK150 disc brakes ensures reliable stopping power. Its features include a stainless steel exhaust manifold, silencer, and pipes, along with a Tonneau cover crafted from Everfast canvas material. This exceptional vehicle was road tested, fully approved, certified and registered as a new vehicle in December 2009.
Having covered just 9, 000kms this C-Type is as close as one can get to experiencing a version of the now 10 million-dollars-plus original. With its ample torque and agile handling, navigating twists and turns, and unleashing the throttle for exhilarating power slides, this C-Type offers a chance to own and drive a significant piece of Jaguar?s racing heritage. It?s a one-way ticket to reliving the era of legends like Stirling Moss, whether you?re tackling mountain roads or simply enjoying a leisurely drive to your favourite coffee shop. As summer approaches, the timing couldn?t be better for such an extraordinary experience.
The vehicle will be sold registered and with a current WOF.
