Description
Hello, L'atelier des 1000 presents for sale this 1965 Jaguar Type-E 2-seater coupe ( FHC ) series 1 in a Carmen Red colour combination matched to a black interior as it left the factory .
The E-Type is without doubt one of the most beautiful cars ever built. This 4. 2 version retained all the features of the 1 Series, such as the headlight lenses, rear lights and superb rocker switches. It will be fitted with more comfortable seats, better cooling, a gearbox with synchronised 1st gear and Girling front brakes to replace the Dunlops fitted to the 3. 8. The model we are offering you originates from the United States, it was delivered new on 18/ 10/ 1965 to New York then exported to England where it was purchased by a great collector, mainly of Aston Martins. It was recently imported into France by one of our loyal partners who entrusted it to us for sale.
The vehicle has Matching Numbers for engine, gearbox and colour. Mechanically the car has its original 4. 2 engine which develops 265hp, the whole is fed by 3 SU carburetors in accordance with the origin. The whole unit behaves perfectly and is in full health, it starts easily without noise or smoke and its tuning is completely satisfactory.
The gearbox behaves perfectly, gear guidance and locking are straightforward and the clutch is well guarded. Nearly €9, 000 worth of work was carried out for the sale by a recognised specialist.
The hydraulic control system has been replaced (transmitter and receiver). A high-torque starter motor has been fitted to replace the original one. The running gear looks good and behaves correctly, and the steering has been overhauled, including the replacement of the steering rack, bellows and ball joints.
The brakes have undergone a complete overhaul, requiring the removal of the rear axle, the mastervac, pistons, wheel cylinders, discs, brake pads, flexible hoses and rigid ducts. The rear tie-rod silent blocks were also replaced.
The cooling and heating hoses have also been replaced and the system bled accordingly. The engine has obviously been drained, and the air filter and fuel filter replaced.
The sale price includes an overhaul of the cylinder head in order to correct a lack of play in one of the buckets which generates a slight knocking noise, although this is not detrimental to the correct operation of the engine we wish to carry out the operation out of a clear conscience.
The paintwork is in good condition, despite a few minor age marks, and the overall appearance is bright, with standard alignment and no major defects. The underpinnings are just like the bodywork, perfectly sound and obviously free of any perforating corrosion. The chrome is sparkling and has a slight patina. The upholstery is period-accurate, and the overall appearance is homogenous, with a patina that gives it a certain charm. Only the passenger seat has a defect on the seat. The velvet carpets are in good condition and the dashboard is not cracked. The original steering wheel is particularly well preserved. Delivery possible in France French registration in collection Favourable technical inspection Possible warranty up to 36 months In view of the condition of the vehicle and the work undertaken, we are asking €84, 990, trade-in and exchange possible. We have other E-Types for sale in stock, if this one does not meet your expectations, please do not hesitate to contact us.
