The design was characterised by smooth, unadorned surfaces and a large, glazed tailgate.
Both elements were later adopted by numerous compact cars and sporty coupés.
The panelling of the entire front of the car made of transparent plastic was unusual, with only the Alfa heart being left out. The design of the oval dashboard repeated elements of the front design.
The first series with the designation GT 1300 was built until 1972 with a production run of 1108 units.
The second series was called GT 1600 and was produced from 1972 to 1975 with only 402 units.
Our Zagato was delivered new to the Alfa Romeo dealership in Messina, Sicily, on 27 December 1972.
September 1980: Import to England
August 1983: Sold to Dr. Kerr in London, who drove the rare Zagato for over 26 years.

From November 2019 to November 2021, the Zagato was dismantled by a German restoration company and completely repainted in the original Grigio Medio Metallizzato colour, and the gearbox was also overhauled.
