A limited edition that oozes charm! History The MGB (MG Type B) is a car from the MG marque (Morris Garages) built from 1962 to 1980 and deployed in four successive versions: MK1, MK2, MK3 and MK4. It is often regarded as the archetype of the classic English roadster. Description Here is a very nice MGB, moreover an MK IV from 1980, in Limited Edition, in line with the period characteristics and particularly noteworthy. The limited edition was introduced in 1979 to celebrate MG’s 50 years of production at Abingdon and was one of the last models built there before the factory finally closed in October 1980. Only around 6, 668 units of this version were produced, making this MGB a well-loved classic, but also a rare sight on the roads, adding an extra layer of distinction to an already popular MG B. Our example comes from the US and was imported in 2021. The Limited Edition option offered on 1979 models and the last-year 1980 included special decorative decals, wider tyres on special alloy wheels, a front air intake, a special steering wheel and a few other accessories such as the trunk rack, head restraints, a glovebox plaque. All cars were black and offered a black or brown interior. MG was fading out in 1980, and the aim was probably to sell its cars as quickly as possible and make some money. That said, I find the MGB LE to be the finest of the rubber-bumper MGB roadsters. EXTERIOR The paint appears original and in very good condition for a paint job 45 years old with only minor imperfections and minimal wear, no signs of impact. INTERIOR Original black interior in very good condition, no tears or cracks anywhere. Very nice dashboard with a crack on the top and excellent instrumentation, and a steering wheel in excellent condition, clear and sharp gauges, very clean door panels and a central console without cracks that houses the four-speed transmission, the stereo **/ FM, new carpet and a new hood, a tonneau cover and a hood cap. MECHANICS Maintained by meticulous mechanics, the engine bay is of high quality, featuring a healthy, breathing engine with the ideal option: SU twin carburettors delivering 90 hp. Supplied with a assisted braking system and a healthy fuel system, the car received a new water pump and a major service in 2024 with front suspension lubrication, fluids and filter changes. The car is fitted with an alternator. WHEELING There is good protection underneath and lifting points are solid and intact. The car is fitted with radial tyres, 5-spoke limited edition wheels, with a matching spare wheel and a jack in the boot. It comes with its original user manual, hood cover and two sets of keys.
