The Lagonda M45 and LG45 were the fastest production cars of their time. The race car versions were, of course, even more performance cars and even more next-level. Every Lagonda M45 or LG45 race car is beloved by those who know and appreciate its qualities. The performance and handling were top-notch at the time.
The somewhat narrow, yet tall body with open wheels was the result of one of the best racing car builders of the 30s, Fox and Nicholl. A perfect match, so to speak. Built purely for performance, which was partly due to the powerful Meadow 45-liter 6-cylinder engine, recently introduced by Lagonda in the new M4. 5. At the same time, Fox and Nicholl were looking for a replacement for their Alfa Romeo racing cars, which were equipped with the by-then-banned superchargers.
This beautiful Lagonda is built on a 1936 LG45 chassis, equipped with the correct M45 (M45/ 222) engine, which was installed during the car's restoration in the mid-1990s. The car was fully restored and rebuilt by specialist John Walker, who completed the project in 1996. The car was then registered in Germany and is now in Dutch hands.
Not only do the photos show the car's sublime build and finish, but the driving experience is exactly as they envisioned back in 1936. The pulling power of the superb engine, the smooth shifting, the perfect brakes, and the razor-sharp steering: everything about it reveals that this is a top-class pre-war model. A car that will bring its new owner tons of enjoyment and that you'll be welcome to take to all shows, tours, and many rallies, both at home and abroad. For shorter trips, there's even room for a few passengers. Your children and/ or grandchildren will be very grateful if they're invited for a ride.
The car has been perfectly maintained to this day, and of course, all invoices are available. The engine was overhauled eight years ago, and all the mechanicals work as we would expect from a top-of-the-line classic car.
You are very welcome to experience what real pre-war driving is like.
