For sale is my NG TC V8
It’s styled on an Aston Martin Ulster from the 1930s.
You can see from the photos that this is an awesome car in all respects. It was built in 1998 with no expense spared. The original owner invested over £30K in top quality products and engineering services getting this car on the road.
I have owned the car for nearly 2 years and have a genuine reason for sale.
The engine is a Rover 3. 9L V8 running a fast road cam, 4 barrel Holley, 5 Speed LT77 gearbox and Limited Slip Differential. All of the engineering work (engine, gearbox and diff) was done by RPI engineering and the car puts out around 280bhp (on a car that weighs only 750KG!). Oil pressure (from a high pressure pump) sits between 50 and 75psi even when hot. Ignition is via an electronic PowerSpark distributor, Iridium plugs and Magnecor leads. All of this is within a beautifully presented engine bay as you can see from the photos. The engine sounds fantastic through two side exiting exhausts.
Some of the running gear is based on an MGB from 1971 – front suspension is MGB but runs external and uprated Spax shocks. Rear suspension is also upgraded to use Spax shocks and also has an anti roll bar and tramp bar. Chassis is built by NG and copes well with the power and torque. Front brakes are Wilwood; there is no brake servo but the brakes are extremely effective.
It runs Image 17” wheels and Pirelli tyres which are in reasonable condition.
Performance is spectacular, 0-60 is allegedly in the 4 second bracket (though I have never verified it!). Torque is incredible – it will pull hard in 5th from 1, 500rpm. Having said that, it is a smooth and luxurious tourer - the previous owner took it to Le Mans and back.
The car has done only 10, 700 miles since registration and feels like new.
Interior and is trimmed in ivory leather with ebony veneer dash and burgundy carpets, full instrument set, Aeroscreens and Willams full harness. A fire extinguisher is also fitted.
There is no rust on the chassis; the Body panels are either aluminium or GRP so also no rust. The panels are painted in a beautifully finished metallic cherry red.
There is no wet weather gear, so it’s either a fair weather car or you just get wet – I have only used it in the dry though.
I have all the bills and documents from the original build and these are supplemented by my own bills for recent minor works (including a new heavy duty alternator).
Since the car has been in my possession it has been impeccably maintained by myself and a specialist V8 / kit car engineer who rated the car as one of the nicest he has ever driven.
The only minor things that I should advise that may need attention are:
• the oil temperature gauge does not work;
• the floor carpet on the driver’s side is starting to wear thin;
• the front brakes squeal but I am advised this is due to the hard compound pads that are used;
• the rear wheel arches have a number of stone chips (please see photos).
The car has just been serviced and MOT’d and the mot runs until end of September. During recent servicing (apart from the usual items) I have had the coolant and brake fluid changed.
I have put what I feel to be a reasonable reserve on the car given the quality of the build and components used and one that reflects the smile that it will put on your face!
