Subject car is a 1969 Ford Escort Mk1 that was upgraded to Group 2 standards by L. A. Motorsport - Aggelakis Service, Greece's foremost rally preparation specialist in the following manner:
Body
The body was sandblasted and converted to Group 2 specifications which included installing a new roll cage by Safety Devices.
Engine
The 1993 cc Ford Pinto engine was totally overhauled using numerous new parts including Mahle pistons. The big valve cylinder head of 44. 5 inlet valve and 38 exhaust valve along with the 2 Weber 44 IDF down draft carburetors and the racing manifold yield an estimated 160bhp.
Transmission
A straight-cut 4sp Quaife (250bhp-limited) of 2. 20 / 1. 54 / 1. 21 / 1. 1 ratios was totally overhauled and installed along with a new clutch.
Rear axle
An Atlas rear axle bearing a 75% Z. F. Motorsport differential with a 4. 6 to 1 crown, ring and pinion ratio was fitted to a new prop shaft axle.
Brakes
The rear axle permitted disc brakes all around:
Front: 4 pot calipers with vented discs by AP Lockheed
Rear: 2 pot calipers by AP Racing
Suspension
Front: Bilstein 260/ 60 inserts on 190lb coil springs bolted on roller bearing mounts.
Rear: Bilstein 220/ 110 inserts on 146lb single leaf springs.
Steering
¾ rack and pinion with no power assistance.
